Cell Phones Widely Contaminated in Health Care Facilities
A recent study has found that cell phones carried by employees, mainly doctors and nurses, are mostly contaminated with dangerous forms of bacteria, according to a recent study. The cell phones exhibit these germs, even when health care workers wash their hands.
With the health care workers following mandatory hand washing guidelines, the study found that approximately 95% of the cell phones contained some form of bacteria. The study researched 200 doctors and nurses. The study also found that 12.5 percent of the phones were contaminated with the bacteria known as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). This form of bacteria is responsible for the development of staph infections that seem to be on the incline throughout health care facilities.
The increasing rate of cell phone contamination around the globe can be attributed to that fact that only about 10 percent of health care workers clean their phone on a regular basis. This news can be especially scary for patients as MRSA is most dangerous to those who are ill.
It would be an above average idea to thoroughly clean a cell phone the next time a visit to a hospital or health care facility is necessary. We now live in a society where technology is affecting us both positively and negatively.
